About Membership

Anyone applying to join must have a primary residence in the south Georgian Bay Area. Retirement or semi-retirement is also a requirement. You need to be able to enjoy all that we have to offer!

As you consider whether to join Lighthouse Probus, we would ask you to think about the following questions:

Should I be joining Lighthouse Probus?

Lighthouse Probus is a club for retired and semi-retired couples or singles whose principal residence is in the South Georgian Bay area, and who are seeking fellowship, friendship and fun.

Why retired or semi-retired?

The key to a successful and rewarding experience in our club is engagement with other members and many of our activities and events are held during the working week. As such, potential members who have not retired may not be able to share fully in club activities and events.

Why mainly resident in the South Georgian Bay area?

The purpose of a Probus Club is to promote fellowship, friendship and fun. If you are not mainly resident in the area, being Collingwood, Wasaga, Clearview and the Town of the Blue Mountains, we cannot build the fellowship and friendship network that we are looking to promote.

If I am Snowbird or frequent traveler, should I join Lighthouse Probus?

Yes, you should consider joining if you are mainly resident in the area. Many of our members are frequent travellers (Snowbirds, Sunbirds, Cruisers, etc.) but as residents of the area they attend many events and activities during the rest of the year. 

I am planning to retire in a few years, should I be looking to join Lighthouse Probus now?

If you are not retired or semi-retired in the area, we are happy to add you to our waiting list. We would, however, ask you not to join the Club until you feel you can participate in the activities and events that our volunteer members arrange as you may be taking the place of another potential member who is retired, recognizing that we have a limited membership.
