Lighthouse Probus is a Social Club of male and female couples and/or singles. We are Probus club # 246 in Canada.
Retirement can come early for many people who want to remain active. Probus Clubs are organizations for men and women who have retired from their profession or business, and want to maintain a social network with others, make new friends and maintain and expand their interests. Each Probus Club is sponsored by a Rotary Club, but each is autonomous. Probus Clubs are not service clubs, are non-sectarian, non-profit, non-political and not involved in fundraising.
We offer monthly meetings with a speaker and many activities as well. Activities include "one off" events ( for example a Muskoka boat cruise) and weekly and or monthly gatherings which include book clubs, billiards, cycling, dinner club and walking just to name a few.
Lighthouse Probus Club was formed September 28, 2015. A small group of 8 people came together to become the founding members, as they assumed the roles required for a steering committee. Volunteering their time and experience, they had a shared vision of building an exciting club that encompasses the social interests of all members. As the 10th Club in Collingwood - this is a great area for Probus! Lighthouse Probus club reached full capacity within 1 month of being founded.
On behalf of our entire membership, we would like thank our sponsor, Probus Club of Mountainview. In particular, Sylvia Head, President, Bill Meldrum, Vice President, Angela Keller, Membership Chair and Bridget Schmidt, Secretary. Their time and support has been invaluable.
